Itinerary

图片

Kuixinglou Tower – The 8D City Viewpoint

Start your adventure at Kuixinglou, a spot that shows off Chongqing’s famous “8D city” charm. Here, you’ll see how skyscrapers rise from hillsides and roads twist through layers of the mountain city. It’s the best place to understand why Chongqing feels like a real-life maze.

图片

Jiefangbei(liberation monument)

Make a stop at Jiefangbei, the vibrant heart of Chongqing’s downtown. Towering buildings, neon lights, and crowds of shoppers fill the air with energy. Once a wartime monument, it has transformed into a symbol of the city’s modern rhythm—where history, nightlife, and city views all collide in one dazzling square.

图片

Chaotianmen Wholesale market area & Raffles city

Chaotianmen Wholesale Market is also worth exploring. As a port city, Chongqing has always been an important trade center. The scene of busy workers delivering goods forms a contrast with the fancy Raffles City in the distance, which is very cyberpunk style.

图片

Liziba Monorail Station – Metro Through the Building Hop on the metro and ride to Liziba Station, where the train dramatically passes through the middle of a high-rise apartment. At night, the glowing windows and neon lights add a cyberpunk feeling you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

图片

E'ling Park

Take a break at E’ling Park, one of Chongqing’s most peaceful hilltop escapes. From its viewing tower, you can see the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers winding through the city’s layered skyline. Paths lined with bamboo and pavilions offer a quiet contrast to downtown’s chaos—a perfect spot to breathe, sip tea, and watch the mountain city unfold beneath you.

图片

Crown Escalator & Demolished Train Station

Built in 1996, the Crown Escalator is 112 meters long with a vertical rise of about 52 meters. Slowly moving through the enclosed passage, it reveals Chongqing not at once, but layer by layer.

The escalator was created to connect the steep height difference between Lianglukou and Caiyuanba Railway Station, which was once one of the city’s most important transport hubs. For decades, countless residents passed through here every day, making the escalator a deeply rooted memory for many Chongqing locals. Even today, it remains part of daily life, still used by residents on their everyday commute.

图片

Sujiaba Overpass

Glide past the Sujiaba Overpass, a masterpiece of Chongqing’s layered engineering. With roads weaving above and below like ribbons in the air, it’s a true showcase of the city’s “mountain maze” design. Standing here, you can watch cars flow through multiple levels at once—a surreal sight that feels more like a sci-fi movie than everyday traffic.

图片

Xiahaoli & Longmenhao Old Street

Perched along the riverside and built into the hillside, Xiahaoli & Longmenhao Old Street offer a charming glimpse into Chongqing’s past and present. Once part of the city’s historic port-opening era, Xiahaoli has transformed into a lively, commercialized old neighborhood that still retains its unique character. Today, the area is filled with cozy cafés, trendy restaurants, and creative boutiques, making it a perfect place for a relaxed stroll. As night falls, the streets light up beautifully, turning the riverside into one of Chongqing’s most iconic spots for evening views and photography.

图片

Diamond Plaza for Hongya cave nightview

No trip to Chongqing is complete without a stop at Hongya Cave. At night, the wooden stilt houses light up like a glowing fairytale castle on the riverside. It’s the most photographed landmark in the city, perfect for your postcard-worthy shots.

I had an incredible private tour of Chongqing with Zhimai and couldn't have asked for a better guide. As a local, he shared unique insights and perspectives about the city that you simply wouldn't get on a standard tour. His knowledge of Chongqing's history, culture, and daily life made every stop much more meaningful. What I appreciated most was how he made sure I experienced the true essence of Chongqing—not just the famous tourist attractions, but also the authentic local side of the city. We enjoyed some amazing local cuisine that was absolutely delicious, and throughout the day he also made sure we stopped to try a variety of treats. I had requested to visit a rooftop viewpoint, and he was more than happy to accommodate the change without any issues. This was an awesome way to experience the city's best views in a single day without feeling rushed, and it made the experience even more memorable. Throughout the day, we were able to have genuine conversations and share about each other's lives, which made this more than just a standard tour but was genuine. He always prioritized my safety and made sure I was able to see all of Chongqing's main attractions, even though the tour ended later than originally planned. His flexibility, professionalism, and genuine passion for sharing his city made the experience unforgettable. If you're looking for an authentic and memorable experience in Chongqing, I highly recommend booking a tour with Zhimai.

Traveling with a group of 5 (two teenage daughters, my wife and I, and my senior mother) you need a guide who can work for everyone. Suvon did exactly that. She knew all the shortcuts, the hidden spots, and how to dodge the tourist crowds without missing anything worth seeing. She also knows the best places to eat! The daytime sights were great, and the way she set up our evening to catch the city lights was perfect. Her communication skills are excellent and her English is perfect. She was able to keep both the teenagers and the adults engaged throughout our tour with her fun and friendly personality. She knows a lot of American pop culture so she is a great fit for American groups. Suvon is exactly the kind of guide you want representing your company. She also has a lot of good business ideas, so you should definitely get her thoughts on growing the business. She is our favorite guide in China and we’re already planning to have her again on our next visit!

I only had about 22 hours in Chongqing during my transit, and booking a private guide turned out to be the best decision I made. My guide, Leah💖, was absolutely wonderful. She speaks excellent English, making every conversation easy and enjoyable. She shared so many fascinating stories about Chongqing, its culture, history, and local life, which made the city feel so much more alive. She also took me to several hidden gems that I would never have discovered on my own. Every place felt unique and authentic. On top of that, Leah is an incredible photographer!✨ Since I was traveling solo, it meant so much to come home with beautiful photos instead of just selfies. She knew all the best angles and photo spots. I also really appreciated that the company matched me with a female guide. We got along so well from the very beginning, and it honestly felt like exploring the city with a friend rather than being on a tour. Even though I had such a short time in Chongqing, we managed to see and experience so much. Thank you, Leah, for making my short stay so memorable. I would recommend this experience to anyone visiting Chongqing - especially solo travelers!
