This is a deep dive into the making of modern Shanghai. You'll decode the stories behind the iconic skyline and the design of its buildings. We will walk through the rise of the foreign concessions and the Bund's golden age in the 1920s–30s, uncovering the politics, finance, and art that shaped a global metropolis. This is not a typical tour—it's a journey into the soul of Shanghai.
What you'll do
Part I: The Bund. We will decode every building of extraordinary significance to old Shanghai from these perspectives — through the lenses of architectural design, politics, economy, art, and culture — to bring the old Shanghai vividly before your eyes.
Part II: The Rockbund. If the Bund is the symbol of Shanghai's vibrancy and energy, then the Rockbund is its quieter counterpart. This area underwent an 18-year-long revitalization by a team of international architects. Today, it is the best place where culture, history, and lifestyle blend seamlessly together.
Part III: The Suzhou Creek, Shanghai's mother river. We will talk about how she nurtured and raised Shanghai into what it is today. At the same time, you will find the best photo spot of the Bund here, capturing the futuristic skyline across the river into your most precious memories.
