Here are 9 of the best places to see Chongqing at night, from classic landmarks to rooftop viewpoints and riverside skyline spots.
Hongya Cave — The Classic Chongqing Night View
If this is your first time in Chongqing, Hongya Cave (洪崖洞) is still the obvious place to start.
At night, the multi-level riverside buildings glow in warm golden light, with Qiansimen Bridge and the Yuzhong skyline rising behind them. It is probably the most recognizable night scene in Chongqing.
One thing many first-time visitors do not realize is that the best view is actually from outside Hongya Cave, rather than inside the complex itself. Walk down toward the riverside for a better view of the whole building.
Best for: First-time visitors and classic Chongqing photos.

Right beside Hongya Cave, Qiansimen Bridge (千厮门大桥) gives you a completely different angle.
From the bridge, you can look back toward Hongya Cave, the Jialing River and the dense buildings of Yuzhong District. Roads, bridges, high-rises and the river all appear at different heights in the same view, which is a good example of why Chongqing feels so vertical.
If you are already visiting Hongya Cave, it is worth walking part of the bridge rather than making a separate trip.
Best for: Hongya Cave skyline views and city photography.
Chaotianmen — Rivers, Raffles City and Modern Chongqing
At the eastern end of the Yuzhong Peninsula, Chaotianmen (朝天门) offers a much more open night view.
The main landmark here is Raffles City Chongqing, whose huge towers dominate the skyline. Compared with Hongya Cave, Chaotianmen feels less traditional and much more futuristic.
It is a good place to see the rivers, bridges and modern skyline together, and it is also close to several other popular night-view spots.
Best for: Raffles City, river views and modern skyline photography.
Pride of Times — Best for Cyberpunk Rooftop Photos
If the Chongqing photos you saved before your trip involve someone standing on a rooftop surrounded by skyscrapers, Pride of Times (时代天骄 / Shidai Tianjiao) is probably what you are looking for.
This is more of a rooftop photography viewpoint than a traditional observation deck. The surrounding towers feel unusually close, with Raffles City and the Chaotianmen skyline filling the background.
That close-up perspective creates the dense, layered look often associated with “Cyberpunk Chongqing.”
Entrance ticket: RMB 58 per person.
Best for: Cyberpunk portraits, couples and rooftop photography.
Cloud Eye Observation Deck — Best for a Wide Panorama
Cloud Eye Observation Deck (云端之眼) is a better choice if you want to see a larger section of Chongqing from above.
Unlike Pride of Times, where the surrounding buildings feel close and dramatic, Cloud Eye is more about the overall panorama. From high above central Chongqing, you can better see how the mountains, rivers, bridges and skyscrapers fit together.
If your main goal is simply to get a high panoramic view of the city, this is one of the easiest choices.
Best for: Panoramic views and first-time visitors.
Tian Tai 131 — Best for Convenience Around Jiefangbei
Tian Tai 131 (天台131) is another rooftop-style viewpoint in the Jiefangbei area.
Its biggest advantage is location. If you are already visiting Jiefangbei and Hongya Cave, it is easy to include without changing your evening route too much.
Compared with Pride of Times, the experience is more like a dedicated sightseeing viewpoint, making it a convenient option for travelers who want a downtown skyline view.
Best for: Convenient high-altitude views around Jiefangbei.
Diamond Plaza — One of the Best Skyline Photo Angles
Some of Chongqing’s best night views are not from the highest buildings.
Diamond Plaza sits across the river from Yuzhong and gives you one of the most balanced skyline views in the city.
From here, you can frame Hongya Cave, Qiansimen Bridge and Raffles City Chongqing together. The extra distance actually helps because instead of standing underneath the skyscrapers, you have enough space to see the different layers of the skyline in one frame.

Nanbin Road — Best for the Full Yuzhong Skyline
If you want to see the Yuzhong Peninsula glowing across the river, head to Nanbin Road (南滨路).
Nanbin Road is not one single viewpoint. It is a long riverside area with several places where you can stop for different views of central Chongqing.
Some spots give you a broad panorama of the Yuzhong skyline, while others frame modern skyscrapers together with older buildings and hillside neighborhoods.
It is also less about rushing from one famous attraction to another. You can walk along the river, stop for photos and enjoy the skyline at a slower pace.
Best for: Full skyline views, couples and relaxed evening walks.
Xiahaoli — Best for Nighttime Atmosphere
Not every good Chongqing night view needs to be seen from far away.
Xiahaoli (下浩里) is better experienced by walking through it.
The neighborhood sits on a hillside in Nan’an District, with old buildings, stone paths, greenery, cafés and small bars mixed together. After dark, warm lighting creates a much softer atmosphere than the neon skyscrapers across the river.
It is a nice place to end the evening because after looking at the skyline from several viewpoints, you can slow down and walk through one of Chongqing’s layered hillside neighborhoods.
Best for: Walking, atmosphere, cafés and a slower evening.
