Many travelers associate Shenzhen with skyscrapers and technology companies. Few expect to find long sandy beaches and clear coastal views close to the city. On the eastern side of Shenzhen, Dameisha Beach and Xiaomeisha Beach offer one of the easiest seaside escapes from the urban skyline.

These two beaches sit along the same stretch of coastline in Yantian District. They are connected by metro and are only one station apart. This makes it possible to visit both beaches in a single day.

Dameisha is the more lively beach. It features a long sandy coastline, large public spaces, and many visitors enjoying the sea. Xiaomeisha offers a quieter atmosphere and a more natural coastal landscape. Walking trails and viewpoints provide a different way to experience the shoreline.

This guide explains where Dameisha and Xiaomeisha beaches are located, how to get there, what to see in each area, and how to plan a relaxing beach day in Shenzhen.

Where Dameisha and Xiaomeisha Beaches Are and How to Get There

Both beaches are located in Yantian District on the eastern coast of Shenzhen. This area sits between the mountains and the South China Sea, creating a dramatic coastal landscape.

The easiest way to reach the beaches is by metro.

Shenzhen Metro Line 2 and Line 8 run directly to the coastline. Travelers simply ride the metro toward the eastern end of the line.

Dameisha Station

Dameisha Beach is located next to Dameisha Metro Station. Visitors leave the station through Exit A and walk directly toward Dameisha Seaside Park.

The beach entrance sits only a few minutes from the station. Because of this convenient access, Dameisha is one of the most visited beaches in Shenzhen.

Xiaomeisha Station

Xiaomeisha Beach is located one metro stop further along the same line. Visitors leave Xiaomeisha Station from Exit C and walk toward the coastline.

The two beaches are separated by only one station, so travelers often visit both locations during the same trip.

Because both beaches sit along the same metro line, transportation between them is simple. Visitors can explore Dameisha first and then continue to Xiaomeisha later in the day.

What to See at Dameisha Beach

Dameisha Seaside Park is one of the most famous public beaches in Shenzhen. The beach stretches about 1.8 kilometers along the coast, creating a wide open shoreline with soft sand and ocean views.

Because the beach is free to enter and easy to reach, it attracts both locals and tourists.

Dameisha Seaside Park

This is the main beach area. Visitors step out of the metro station and immediately reach the sand. Palm trees and tropical plants create a coastal atmosphere similar to southern resort cities.

The wide beach allows space for swimming, walking, and relaxing by the water.

DAMEISHA Beach Sign

A colorful sign with the letters DAMEISHA stands near the beach entrance. Many visitors stop here for photos with the sea in the background.

This location has become one of the most recognizable photo spots along the beach.

Shanhai Pier

At the eastern end of the beach stands Shanhai Pier. From this location visitors can see the coastline stretching across the bay.

On clear days sunlight reflects across the water and creates sparkling patterns on the surface.

Tianchang Dijiu Rocks

Two large natural rocks sit near the waterline in the eastern section of the beach. Local visitors often refer to them as Tianchang Dijiu rocks.

The shallow water around this area is often clear, especially on sunny days, which creates a glass like sea surface.

Dameisha Coastal Boardwalk

A scenic wooden boardwalk runs along the rocky coastline near the eastern side of the beach. The path curves along the cliffs and provides close views of waves hitting the rocks.

Walking along this path offers a different perspective compared with the sandy beach.

What to See Around Xiaomeisha

Xiaomeisha offers a quieter coastal experience compared with Dameisha. The landscape here includes rocky shores, coastal trails, and smaller beaches.

Many visitors prefer this area when looking for a slower pace and more natural scenery.

Xiaomeisha Seaside Area

The main beach area near Xiaomeisha includes a seaside park that requires an entrance ticket. The environment here is often less crowded and the water sometimes appears clearer.

Some visitors choose to skip this section and explore the surrounding coastline instead.

Yantian Coastal Greenway

One of the most beautiful walking routes in Shenzhen runs along the coast near Xiaomeisha. The Yantian Coastal Greenway stretches between mountains and the sea.

Walking along this route takes about one hour one way. The path offers views of waves, cliffs, and distant islands.

Beizaijiao Beach

Along the coastal greenway small hidden beaches appear between rocky sections of the shoreline. One of the most well known is Beizaijiao Beach.

Some local visitors fish here or stop to watch the waves.

Seaside Library

A unique attraction near Xiaomeisha is the Seaside Library. The building faces the ocean and includes large windows overlooking the coastline.

Visitors often stop here to rest, read, or enjoy the view from inside the building.

Beizaijiao Lighthouse

A red and white lighthouse once stood at the edge of the coastal trail and served as a landmark of the area. The surrounding coastline still remains one of the most scenic viewpoints along the route.

Suggested One Day Beach Route

Travelers can easily visit both Dameisha and Xiaomeisha in a single day.

Start the day at Dameisha Station and explore Dameisha Seaside Park. Walk along the beach and visit the DAMEISHA sign and the coastal boardwalk.

Spend time relaxing on the sand or watching the waves.

After exploring Dameisha take the metro one stop to Xiaomeisha.

From Xiaomeisha Station walk toward the coastal greenway and begin the seaside walking route. The trail provides views of cliffs, waves, and the open sea.

Continue toward the Seaside Library and nearby viewpoints along the coast.

Many visitors spend half a day or a full afternoon exploring both areas.

Tips for Visiting Shenzhen Beaches

Weather plays an important role when visiting Shenzhen’s coastline. The sea appears much clearer on sunny days, so checking the weather forecast before visiting helps ensure better views.

Sun protection is important. Coastal walking routes and beaches have limited shade, especially during the middle of the day.

Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking along the coastal boardwalk and greenway paths.

Weekends and holidays bring large crowds to Dameisha Beach. Visitors who prefer quieter conditions often arrive earlier in the morning.

Dameisha offers a lively beach atmosphere, while Xiaomeisha provides a quieter coastal walk.

Together they form one of the best seaside experiences in Shenzhen and show a different side of the city beyond skyscrapers and technology districts.
