Itinerary

1 Initiation

The walking tour will take place in Yuzhong District, around the Jiefangbei area. It’s not only the most popular tourist spot but also the traditional old town of Chongqing.

We’ll start near Linjiangmen and head to Kuixinglou. You might have seen that TikTok video where you think you’re on a square, but turn around and find yourself on the 18th floor. That’s Kuixinglou, our first stop.

2 Development

Then we’ll pass by the famous Hongyadong. It looks more stunning at night, so we won’t linger there during the day. I’ll show you the best vantage point to admire it.

During the day, it is more worth visiting the Daijia Lane next to it. It is close to the cliff and has many coffee shops and teahouses. You can also overlook the scenery of the Jialing River.

3 Transition

After that, we’ll visit Luohan Temple, a Buddhist temple nestled in the heart of the city. You can witness the contrast between ancient and modern there.

We will also pass by a residential area with Chongqing’s typical long steps and the site of an abandoned cableway.

Chaotianmen Wholesale Market is also worth exploring. As a port city, Chongqing has always been an important trade center. The scene of busy workers delivering goods forms a contrast with the fancy Raffles City in the distance, which is very cyberpunk style.

4 Exploration

Baixiangju, a 25-story building without an elevator, is a classic residential apartment in the mountain city. Because it is closely integrated with the terrain, there are entrances to different floors on the 1st, 8th and 15th floors. Such a building can only be found in Chongqing.

5 Conclusion

The tour usually ends near Jiaochangkou Station. You can have dinner nearby and then go back to Hongyadong to enjoy its night view.
